The Unikko pattern is Marimekko's most recognizable pattern. It was created after Armi Raita announced to the public that no floral fabrics would be designed at Marimekko. Maija Isola did not accept rules or restrictions, and designed a complete collection of bold florals in protest. Today, Unikko is more popular than ever. Marimekko is constantly reinventing this pattern using bold new colour combinations.
