SAVU design embodies the mystical and dusky ambiance of a traditional smoke sauna.
20 x 46 cm
The SAVU design was created as part of Sauna Finland’s project to develop an idea or a product that signals Finnish sauna culture to an international target audience, in particular. Designer Heini Turunen apporached the subject through the theme of the Finnish smoke sauna through the lens of an authentic and unique experience. SAVU is one of the drafts from the “Saunan syli” design collection, and it embodies the mystical and dusky ambiance of a traditional smoke sauna. Turunen wanted to capture the multisensory atmosphere, the rustic beauty of the patina that covers the surfaces, the scent of smoke and the softness of the healing steam. Her goal was to create a product and design set that feels like a hug – the healing touch of a smoke sauna.
This comfortable pillow’s warp yarn is made of Masters of Linen–certified 100 % linen, while the weft yarn is certified organic cotton. The long staple linen we use is grown with rainwater in Central Europe, and is entirely traceable. The yarns have been spun and dyed in the EU area according to the REACH regulations. The filling is SL-1-graded fireproof polyester. SL references the Finnish flammability grading, with SL-1 being the most fireproof.
WE ADVISE CAUTION: Keep the pillow a safe distance away from the hot sauna stove. Do not fall asleep in the sauna. Remember to remove all textiles from the sauna after use, and do not leave them in the sauna to dry.
Wash the new textile before use. Delicate laundry wash at 40°C in plenty of water on a slow washing spin. Wash separately. Avoid softener and bleach. Reshape whilst damp. Do not tumble dry.The filling is 100% fire resistant polyester fibre. The colour of natural linen becomes lighter with washing. Shrinkage approx. 5 %. Keep away from the hot stove. Do not sleep in the sauna. Remember to take the textiles out of the sauna always after use, do not dry textiles inside sauna.
