Kastehelmi Saucer 85mm

The delicate kastehelmi saucer is ringed by crystalline dew. Retro and lightly used but in mint condition. Use it with tea cups, as a coaster, or perhaps as small decorative addition. 

A vintage part of the kastehelmi/dew drop collection. While the collection was brought back in 2010 by Iittala, the 85mm saucers were not brought back from the original collection. 

The beautiful glass droplets of the Kastehelmi series have both an aesthetic and a technical function: Oiva Toikka developed a pattern that would conceal the joint marks in pressed glass and the result was Kastehelmi, Finnish for dewdrop. Kastehelmi was manufactured until 1988 and it was one of Oiva Toikka's most beloved glass series.

Nuutajärvi glassworks was established 230 years ago in 1793 in Finland. They were famous for their handblown glass and work with other design companies within Finland. In 1988 the company merged with Iittala and their production was moved to Iittala completely in 2014. Nuutajärvi is still famous as a training center for new and upcoming glass designers and artists.
