Designed by Tapio Wirkkala in 1970, the Hopla pitcher is a striking example of Finnish glass design from Iittala’s golden era. Its tall, sculptural form and richly textured surface catch the light beautifully, giving the pitcher both visual depth and timeless elegance.
Originally produced by Iittala between 1970 and 1980, the clear Hopla glass series included a wide range of drinkware and serving pieces, all united by Wirkkala’s masterful use of texture and proportion. The pitcher is perfectly suited for everyday use while being refined enough for festive tables and special occasions.
Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) is regarded as one of the most influential figures in Finnish design history. Known for his versatility, he worked seamlessly across materials and disciplines, from glass and wood to furniture, jewelry, and industrial design. His glasswork, in particular, remains highly sought after for its innovation and sculptural quality.
This piece is part of Finnport’s Retro collection.
