The red ribbon on the ornament is made from recycled PET bottles.

Kalevala Koru began production in 1935 with pieces that were copied from jewelry found in burial sites across Finland dating back thousands of years. Many of the original pieces have special symbolism and messages. Recently, Kalevala designers have been inspired by themes of nature and literature to create new pieces. Today, The Association of the Women of Kalevala still operate the company, and donate company profits to various charities that promote Finnish Culture.

Bronze is an alloy of copper, tin and zinc which tarnishes faster than precious metals. The new bronze jewelry has a jewelry protector varnish surface that prevents the jewelry from darkening. With a Kalevala cleaning cloth, you can polish areas that have dimmed if the protective varnish has worn off. After cleaning, it's a good idea to wash the jewelry in mild soapy water, so as not to damage the cloth, the cleaning agent inside stains clothes.
