On Christmas Eve many Finnish people remember their loved ones by placing a candle at their grave-site. It is a beautiful sight to behold having a sea of candles all lit at once. This tradition has also become popular here in Thunder Bay. These candles can also be used to remember special occasions like anniversaries and birthdays.
